What’s Going on in West Orange Today

What’s Going on in West Orange Today

People who are looking for ways to use their time wisely would be happy to know that there are many things to do in West Orange today.  With all the activities and events that are available to people with different hobbies, demands, and interests, choosing the best alternative is not that easy.
Enjoy the month of February with all these fun things to do in West Orange FL.
We’ve compiled a list of the best and most interesting events and businesses that will surely make people visit West Orange and come back for more.

Lakefront Farmers Market at Summerport Village
Address: Summerport Village Parkway, Windermere, FL 34786
Hours of Operation: 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.

Progress is vital in the building a community and is one of the primary goals of communities - to step up and go beyond the status of merely thriving.  Development, growth, and progress are exactly what is happening at Horizon West, as area residents are challenged to build a community of their own.

More people are going out and meeting up at Summerport Village - whether for a casual chat or to grab a bite.  Coming very soon is something that will surely help in the advancement of this neighborhood.  An important event that should be noted in the West Orange events calendar is the opening of the Village’s very own Lakefront Farmer’s Market on February 21, 2016.  The said market offers various products and services that will make people look forward to the first and third Sunday of each month.  Here are some of the interesting products to look out for: exceptional art bottle lamps, handcrafted stone bangles, cakes in a jar, and more.  The little ones will definitely be delighted to meet some handcrafted animal friends, see unique and charming hair bows, and line up for face painting.  The classics like organic produce, regular produce, and garden honey will take its place in the line of goods that await Horizon West residents on the street in Summerport.

In addition to the convenience of having a one-stop shop and the economic growth that this farmer’s market may bring, one of the primary goals of putting up the market is for the residents to get to know their neighbors and eventually support one another, including the merchants that are in their own community.  To know more about the exciting surprises at the farmer’s market, check out their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/summerportvillagemarket/.

Orlando Cat Café
Address:  532 Cagan Park Avenue, Suite 201-202, Clermont, FL 34711

For those who love coffee and cats but cannot seem to reconcile how and where these two can go together, it is now possible to have these two loves in one place – the Orlando Cat Café.  Customers can bring their feline friends while enjoying  great coffee care of Axum Coffee. Their cats will be cared for by South Lake Animal League.  These groups are the partners of this new cafe in town that ensure the quality of their products and guarantee not only customer satisfaction, but also the safety of everyone including the cats.

For people who want the coffee and not the cat, customers can still grab their cup without interacting with these gentle felines.  The café will be set up in a way that the coffee shop area, the place for food preparation and ordering, is separate from the lounge where other customers can enjoy both their coffee and the company of the cats.  This cat lounge can be viewed from the coffee shop through a window.  A separate private room is designated for the cats to have their private time, relax, and go to a litter box.

This very interesting concept may seem like another extraordinary idea for a coffee shop business.  However, there’s more than meets the eye.  This approach is not merely a marketing strategy to attract more curious customers, but rather an avenue wherein a bigger possibility for adoption is given to these “purrfect” furry friends.  Since the cats have the liberty to move around the lounge, customers who are contemplating on adopting a cat would have an idea how felines act at home.  They sleep a lot not because they are exhausted, but simply because they enjoy sleeping.  Future cat owners also have the option of adopting younger cats for a lower cost.  Adoption cost includes spaying/neutering, and microchipping.  Microchipping is a process wherein a microchip, that contains the information of both the cat and its owner, is inserted under the cat’s skin for identification.  For more information about this coffee shop, go to http://orlandocatcafe.com/.

Art Classes with the Dancing Window Artist
As owner of Panache Events Company, Mindy Hungerford started hosting events in restaurants.  When she found out that one of her children needs special care and attention, she decided to widen her options and pursue her passion in the arts.  So, she submitted a proposal to Winter Garden Pizza for her teach how to paint wine glasses.  Seventy-five people showed up and the number still continues to grow.

It is also at Winter Garden Pizza where Mindy started her window art.  She believes that painting is all about emotions.  She prepares herself for work by listening to music depending on her mood.  She dances to the beat while stroking the window glass with a paintbrush to express what is in her heart.  Excellence in her craft is evident through the works that she has done, thus, Mindy gets more invitations even from outside Florida such as Louisiana and California, to name a few.  Her passion for the arts has reached a lot of people by word of mouth as participants of her class have a great time at the said events.  For those who are interested to attend Mindy’s class or ask for an update on her shoe painting idea, she can be reached via email at wgpanache@gmail.com.

While there are many West Orange events this weekend, many more are expected to happen.  As a person opens his or her mind to exploring possibilities like wine glass painting or befriending a cat, progress is surely to follow.
