These are newly opened businesses that offers you new great things to do in West Orange FL.
Sweet Jessie’s Homemade Ice Cream: Found Its First Home in Florida
Address:  381 North Clarke Road, Ocoee, FL 34761
Phone Number:  (443) 803-6935
Hours of Operation:  12 P.M. to 10 P.M. daily

Putting smiles on people’s faces – this is the purpose of Jessica Pollack, owner of Sweet Jessie’s Homemade Ice Cream, for putting up a local ice cream shop in Florida.

This new ice cream store in town opened on what is considered as the sweetest day in February – Valentine’s Day.  Aside from the creamy homemade ice cream that visitors of all ages enjoyed, the young guests were also preoccupied with balloon artists and face painters.

Sweet Jessie has more than 200 recipes of homemade ice cream prepared for its guests.  The shop will offer 30 to 40 flavors each day with unique flavors such as Wild Hogs Bacon, Cookie Monster, and Zombie.  The latter comprised of more than one kind of chocolate, cookies, and peanut butter.  Every two weeks, the flavors change and new ones come out.  The shop is also open to customizing flavors according to their customer’s request.

Jessica has been in the ice cream business since she was 9 years old.  She would drop by the ice cream shop located across from her house in Maryland after her sports.  Because of the frequency of her visit, Jessica became friends with the owners.  Eventually, she would help them out whenever she could.  With her newly opened ice cream shop in Florida, this would make Jessica involved in the ice cream business for more than 20 years now.

During the time that Jessica and her husband were thinking of a catchy name for their new business, they took two things into consideration.  First, it should be something that would stick to people.  Second, it should be personal so that people could easily identify with it.  After pondering on a number of options, they finally agreed on “Sweet Jessie,” which according to the Pollacks, had a “ring” to it.

Aside from Jessica’s desire to share the different homemade ice cream recipes with West Orange, she also has a burden to reach out to the community.  This is an important thing to note about what’s going on in West Orange today.  She is looking into supporting and working with other local businesses and schools, and other more ways to show her support.

Glover Custom Woodwork:  Custom-Made Furniture for Every Home
Phone Number: (407) 490-7291

Some business ideas come out of having a certain need.  Others are born to save time and effort.  There are those that are born because of passion.  Glover Custom Woodwork is one that belongs to the third category.

Glover Custom Woodwork is born because of Bryan Glover’s desire to create his own cornhole set.  While he and his wife Cortni attended a gathering in 2013, a custom-made cornhole set had Bryan inspired to create one of his own.  He started to work on this in his garage as he came home from work.  Cortni, the one managing the orders of their present business, suggested that he sell his handiwork.  After this first success, Bryan started making tables.  The referrals keep coming in because of exposure in social media and through word of mouth.

One thing that makes Bryan’s work special is that he begins working on an order with a full sheet of plywood.  He, then, customizes things from there.  He also uses high-quality materials compared to the particle board that other furniture stores sell.  It is important to know that quality of material used in the furniture to know the durability and possible life span of the said piece.  Furniture made of particle board basically gets ruined once it gets wet.

In the same way that the Glovers’ works are all customized, the pricing also varies depending on the order.  The Glovers gave a peek of their furniture pricing, but final costs are to be determined after they have known the details of the order.  A dining table with seating that is good for four to six people starts at $350.  A sofa table that is 4.5 to 5 feet tall starts at $185, while a coffee table at $160.  A floating shelf begins at $70 each.

The Glovers usually allot 10 to 14 days turnaround time per order depending on the size and intricacies of the furniture.  A minimum of two pieces of furniture are delivered each week since Bryan works a full-time job on top of his woodwork business.  A sofa table, an entertainment center, a wall pallet, and shadow box for an AC/DC autographed guitar are some of the things that Bryan has already created.  He looks forward to working in his own shop one day.  In addition to this, he is excited to accommodate more orders and, eventually, create a cornhole set of his own.

The above mentioned happenings are only a few of the exciting West Orange events today.  More than the monetary gain, these business owners look forward to affecting change in their circles of influence by delivering meticulously-made furniture and putting a smile on people’s faces through these cold and creamy desserts.  Their inspiration to be a part of the local business community comes from their desire to give the best and be of service not only to their patrons, but also to the community.
